And the problem came back, heavier and weirder than before. In short: 7 / 10 times cold start would sit before POST (before beep), only second time hitting OFF/ON button PC would start up normally.

I changed several combinations of settings, the last few days during gameing i would suddenly get a freeze while the second Radeon fan would spin 100%, followed by a STOP 0x000000116 BSOD. Cold start via OFF/ON button, fan (only the second card) would again start spinning 100%. Boot up in Windows (fan still spinning 100%) and in CCC i saw that i had no crossfire and in Device Manager the card did not exist. Shut off via Windows button.

Disconnected the current and opened PC case.
Took out second videocard, and switched its pci-e cables to the first card.
Cleaned second videocard's fan (from the outside, did not take it off) as well as possible.
Also removed some dust from my RAM fans and CPU fan.
Cleared CMOS
Put back in the second videocard, seated firmly.
Placed the crossfire bridge to the right "flaps" instead of the left ones where it usually sat.
Started up PC, in BIOS made all necessary hardware settings but no OC at all.

Launched Windows. Crossfire 100% OK. Played a game.
Shut off PC.
Went away.
2 hours later, cold boot instant success and completely normal. So, no hardware failure. Phew! :whi:

I changed most settings in BIOS to [Auto]. Installed TurboV and it tells me what's happening behind my AUTO values.

After CLEAR CMOS, now with most settings @ [Auto], i pass 2 hours stresstest.

But Orthos failed until i gave the CPU more juice.
Lowering QPI/DRAM Core volts made less heat.

The problem never disappeared though: when cold booting i always get a halt before the beep. I have to switch OFF/ON to get an actual bootup.
This clearly is a hardware power issue.
I read that Asus made a "D" version of the board with revised power behaviour. But they're nowhere for sale anymore. I dunno, it indicates something. I consider this board damaged, and have ordered a new one: a Sabertooth x58.
