I so hate Intel when they do this

So you want to download the latest chipset drivers for your z77 board.
On their website they offer
  1. File name: Chipset_10.0.26_Public.zip
  2. File name: SetupChipset.exe
Hmm... which to take?
Semi-helpful (you think) they pose the question themselves, as a link. Ahh, wil it give me the answer?

No. To save time, they want you to install a third piece of software.
I did, and then you need to reboot before you can use it.
After reboot i tried to use it. It took me to their website which is a static page bigger than my resolution can manage as it still is in standard VGA of course. Because as always, i want to install the chipset drivers before any other driver. That is the norm and had been for years. Intel should know that. So that Intel page is useless, as half of the text and buttons fall outside the frame for anyone who has not yet installed graphics drivers...
So that was a waste of time.

And another thing. Back on the first Intel page, it says:
Please read attached files before installing (Readme.txt and ReleaseNotes_10.0.26.htm)

A lie. Why do they do that? There is NO Readme.txt nor is there a ReleaseNotes attached to or included in either file.
Intel doesn't care.

Luckily, Asus offer a (slightly older, but only aimed at my chipset) version of the chipset driver on their support site. 247 MB (all OS's), during -quick- install, only the relevant bits to your system are installed.
Version 9.3.0.1020 / 9.3.0.1011
Target Chipset#: Intel 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family

Update: and a week later the motherboard died (unrelated to the subject in this topic!), so that was a shortlived Z77 system experience. I received a new one in return: Asus Rog Maximus Hero. Still have to assemble the system. The details will follow in a new thread.
