FINALLY! I managed to kill the 3 mega mechs and save 6 intact crates remaining out of 20. Hardcore mode. The way to do it involves almost no ducking but more running around (and hiding of course but still standing). Starting with the middle mech (who has his back towards you) works best: i start with sniper inferno shots, one at his back obviously, then salvo in his face as he approaches, then i duck (and reduck :clown: !) continue, duck (and reduck :clown: !) reload and continue. Then he is too close, but under attack by Miranda and Zaeed, and i run around the right side of the stretched rock i was ducking behind, and sprint towards the car wreck. Moving around that wreck (mech does the same trying to get me), with assault rifle i squirted bursts in his face or at his back (while also under fire from my squad) till he died.
My squad was Zaeed (the only one loyal yet) and Miranda. If they both survive helping to kill the first mech, chances are good.
In the mean time, the other 2 mechs are alerted and approaching. I still have all heavy ammo unused. It went quickly and intense i don't remember exactly except that killing the 2nd mech took half of my heavy ammo and Miranda's life, and the 3d mech had more interest in my squad than in me, i only used assault rifle (inferno ammo) not the heavy gun and his final shot came from me fired in his back! From standing behind the wreck.
Sadly, only 6 out of 20 crates salvaged.

Play Normal mode to get to know the game; Hardcore mode brings real challenge. Of course i don't switch back; i want that medal! :D
The ducking bug is just much more disturbing than in Normal mode, because the opposition is a little more vicious and your health protection in the first parts of the game is unequivalently lower. But makes you even more alert and cautious.

BUGS

  • After a battle has completed (you killed everyone), SAVE. In some missions, if the doors aren't closed behind you, you can walk back track to pick up ammo, as all ammo you picked up before will be renewed again, that's convenient. Like in the Recruit Grunt mission. BUT don't walk back too far, because on your return the whole battle (consisting of 3 times a group-attack) you just fought might start all over again exactly the same. If that happens: reload your Quicksave. If you need ammo, walk backtrack but this time not so far... Try it out you always have your save to go back to.
  • Enemies shoot through walls. (have pictures)

WEIRD
  • On several locations on the Normandy (not that it's very important, but still), shadows fall towards the lightsource.
  • Illium: you can walk right into Liara's office and talk to her. When you leave and once outside, talk to the receptionist (assistant), she then says: "Hello Commander Shepard. Liara will be pleased to see you." Is it too hard to program the game to detect you already have spoken to her so that line can be skipped?

ANNOYING
  • Very annoying, because it looks sloppy. The brown Casual outfit for female Shepard: her shoulders, whole part below the collar is low quality pixelized. And does not match her extraordinary finely done face. Looks like unfinished work. (pictures to post) Maybe it is meant to be some semi-transparent silk or something, but it looks downright filthy.
Just like when she blinks: it is clear that her eyeblinking is missing the eyelid textures. Only the eyelashes move up and down, so effectively here eyes stay open. (pictures to post) It's scary.
  • Helping Miranda (Samara) mission. A shootout before meeting Niket. The first one after the first elevator.
Shepard stands behind a set of crates, specifically a large tall one, same as her body length, which is flanked by two smaller crates half that length. Shepard refuses to hide!!! She's under attack from both sides diagonally (both can hit her) but she just keeps standing normal: however i repeatedly hit Spacebar SHE REFUSES TO DUCK AND HIDE! :smh: Dead!
Just checked (and made screenshots): when you hide behind the left short crate, she ducks. If you then move Shepard to the right behind the middle (tall) crate, her hiding is suddenly standing up. Move further to the right (the other short crate), she ducks again. This means: hiding behind the middle (tall) crate she is just as vulnerable as not hiding at all. Hmm. Can't say it's a design flaw. It's a trap, rather. You think you can hide but watch it: not all hiding places are safe.

BUGS
  • Continuation of the same bug, sudden airlift.
Illium. Just went through a door (next to the one to Eternity), to follow my path left around the corner downstairs. Just outside the door, sudden airlift of Shepard. Stuck there, no way down. Have no Quicksave, not even an Autosave, i just arrived at Illium, talked to Liara, accepted her mission. Walked around, and talked to some other people. Have to restart level and do that all over again. :-|-:
  • See-through container textures. Helping Miranda (Samara) mission. A shootout before meeting Niket. The one where afterwards Miranda says "We can cut through the cargo line". Have pictures.
  • Helping Miranda (Samara) mission. Last shootout, after the meeting with Niket. During the battle, Shepard is suddenly airlifted onto the top of the tallest crate she was hiding behind while under attack. Easy target, dead. (forgot to make pictures)
  • And a second time, near the same place, this time during attack airlifted to the height of the smaller crate, but next to it in the air. Easy target, but luckily a way down to hide again. (have pictures)
Btw, this happens in every location where there are crates. Happens completely unsuspected while under attack.
  • Continuation of the same bug, sudden airlift: again! The same door goddammit! :smh:
Illium. Just went through the same door as above (next to the one to Eternity), to follow my path left around the corner downstairs. Just outside the door, sudden airlift of Shepard. Stuck there, no way down. Last Autosave to load was just after the big final fight where Niket was killed, and before Miranda talked to her sister. :-|-:
  • At the forelast battle-section of Justicar mission, while i fire at the Gunship, my squad is standing high up in the air. (picture to post) Can say i know that place, been there myself a lot... :-|-:
Btw, the best spot to kill that thing is not there; i wouldn't want to post a spoiler picture. ;)
  • Last section of Justicar mission, killing Captain Wasea section, Shepard is suddenly airlifted onto a tall crate she normally could never vault upon. Normally this would make her an easy target, but now it gives an easy shooting angle to kill the remaining enemies. And then suddenly my squad spawns next to me at the same height in the air. (pictures to post).
Trying to get off (or else i have to reload quicksave and do the battle all over again), i fall off at the wrong side: trapped between this crate, a larger one and the wall. And my squad is still in the air. (pictures to post). Ah, and when i turn around there is Miranda, loyal squad member spawned down next to me in the trapped location. Nope, no way out. Reload quicksaaaaaaaave........ :smh:
  • Ok, reloaded quicksave, done the battle again. And then exactly when i killed the last enemy, sudden airlift standing next to another crate. :smh: (pictures to post) And no goddam friggin way down! :xmad: Reload quicksave again. :smh:
-OK, done it, killed everybody. Quickly saved before moving one foot. Phew!
  • Sudden airlift in the Briefing/Comm Room, onto the armfence (word?). Have pictures. Easy way down.

BUGS
  • Many many times while walking alongside a crate Shepard suddenly lifts on top of the crate, then continues down again. (picture to show). It wouldn't be serious if this were all about it. But the ease and multiple times this happens shows that the base for sudden unwanted airlifting (with no way down or escape except reload quicksave) is all over the game.
  • Last part of Collector Ship (?) (forgot the level name, it's where EDI on remote helps out to restore the database so Shepard can return to the Normandy, turned out to be a trap placed by the Illusive Man). Sudden airlift while walking along an edge, then stuck on invisible platform over lower floor. Seems no way down, but luckily with a few minutes manipulative moving i succeeded stepping back onto normal ground. (pictures to post)
  • Help Garrus mission, first part (just arrived at factory warehouse). Disappeared textures, invisible floor.
After shooting enemies, and before using the Bridge Control to lower the bridge. Walking back the track in search for maybe some ammo, complete wall of the map appears to be missing and i can walk ahead over the abyss in the factory full of containers. (have pictures)
Luckily i can walk to and fro without getting stuck.

BUGS
  • Help Garrus mission. Just entered the big contruction room where Harkin is (whom Garrus is going to intimidate to get more info on Sidonis). Standing next to a pile of pipes while shooting at robots, Shepard suddenly airlifts. No way down, easy target. Dead. (have pictures)
  • Of course, the constant bug: while shooting the giant mechs Shepard dies because she immediately stands up after ducking while under fire by the mechs. This happens everywhere in the game, but i mention it again because it's so incredibly annoying dying that way.
I know what i'm doing and i'm doing it right, but the game sabotages. :xmad:
  • After killing the mechs, walking to the far backside of the platform Shepard and squad were sitting on, sudden airlift next to a crate, and squad joins lift. Luckily not too hard to escape down again. (have pictures)

BUGS
  • Also this SECOND time i play the whole game, the same bug at the end of Mission for Mordin Solus appears: Press "F" to end mission does not work. :fp:
Mission for Mordin Solus, after dealing with Maelon, level refuses to end. I have chosen to stay a while and look around, and done so. Hacked the computer. Then there's not much left, you can't even leave the room. Although it says Press "F" to end mission, when i do that nothing happens.
    So, reload last quicksave.
    This time it worked.
  • Joab Dig Site. At start of level, after killing all enemies coming out of the front door. Then walking around the area, close to the front door, Shepard suddenly airlifts halfway the height of a tall rock. Stuck there. Can walk on the invisible floor around and through the rock. Squad as usual accompanies. (Have pictures).
No escape, no way down. Reload quicksave.

The expressions on the faces of all characters are very well done and natural.
Except for the Queen: Female Shepard. When she blinks. No eyelids. Only the eyelashes blink.
This completely ruins her face! Just like any normal human she blinks during every conversation.

When embracing Liara, Shepard is supposed to have closed eyes:

====================================================================================
She doesn't even need to blink to see it; it is clear that she has no eyelids behind the lashes:

Floating eyelashes.
This is the only time i saw lids on her eyes.
From this angle (very rare) she suddenly does seem to have lids, but the lashes are misplaced:

BUGS

  • Just entered MSV Strontium Mule. Covered behind a tall crate, using the sniper rifle to kill enemies, Shepard suddenly airlifts onto the top of the crate. Easy target for the heavy ammo fired at her. No escape. Dead. :fp:
    (pictures to post)
  • MSV Strontium Mule,. After having killed all enemies, looking around for usefull goodies, then pressed "F" to end the mission. Because i thought i maybe missed one room, i reloaded the last savegame. Now a door is missing, or rather: because the big green button to open it is in the middle, it is transparent and i can walk through it.. (have pictures) and now the Payload refuses to be recovered!
Reload quicksave again: now the door is completely gone (green button as well)... (picture), and the Payload now can be recovered.

Games are released in sloppier and sloppier state. ME2 is a beautiful game, but also a pile of bugs and unfinished work. :fp:
I payed €58,- for the Collector's Edition. I think i deserve a finished product for that. EA can decide to continue shooting themselves in the foot, or release a second patch to fix all issues.

To get the problems neatly ordered i split them into seperate threads:
Mass Effect 2 most horrible bug 1: airlift
Mass Effect 2 most horrible bug 2: cover standup
Mass Effect 2 most horrible bug 3: no eyelids on Shepard
Mass Effect 2 bugs that didn't make top 3, and other flaws
:)

That whole eyelid thing is freaky looking, especially since the rest of the face is done so well... so much face detail, yet freaky eyelids/eyelashes... :wth: :nervous:

Considering that EA lately seems to put little effort into fixing (or allowing fixing of) games they publish, it is not to surprising that I stumbled upon an article about a major holder of EA stocks saying EA management has no credibility right now.

I posted the article in General Discussion (tried to follow the 'posting news' bit as best as I could)
EA Management's Credibility Is "Nonexistant Right Now"
Good, bad, I'm the one with the Omni-mech!
